UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz followed friend and former trainer partner Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s footsteps all the way to Bellator MMA, but he didn’t stop there. Just like Rampage, Ortiz also made the move to TNA Wrestling’s Impact. The hot internet rumor just a few short days ago had Bellator putting Rampage up against Roy Jones Jr. in a boxing match on pay-per-view opposite the UFC’s year-end extravaganza that features Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva II and Ronda Rousey vs. Miesha Tate II

SEATTLE – The longer Robbie Lawler stayed in the cage with Bobby Voelker, the more comfortable he seemed to get with the idea of visiting some memorable act of violence upon him. So when Lawler sat Voelker down with a head kick early in the second round, it was hardly a surprise. The same could be said about the follow-up right hand that starched Voelker as he went to sit up, thereby ending the fight at 0:24 of the second round. The welterweight bout was part of today’s UFC on FOX 8 event at KeyArena in Seattle. It aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.

UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman Gate Officially Lands in Nevada’s Top 5 MMA Draws

The official numbers are in and UFC 162 is officially a success… at least at the box office. The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Thursday revealed the final tally for UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman confirming an attendance of 12,964 for gate receipts totaling $4,826,450. UFC 162 took place on July 6 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and aired live on pay-per-view. There were 10,157 tickets sold for UFC 162, while company officials gave away 2,807 complimentary tickets. New UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman made the event one for the history books, capturing the belt by knocking out Anderson Silva in the second round. While many fellow pro fighters predicted that Weidman had the ability to win the fight, the way the fight ended came as a surprise to nearly everyone

WINNIPEG – Saturday’s UFC 161 headliner proved a tense, evenly matched and highly competitive clash of veteran fighters. However, in what proved to be a deciding third round, Rashad Evans took the striking edge and ultimately edged fellow ex-champion Dan Henderson via split decision. The bout took place at MTS Centre in Winnipeg and aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook. The decision, which easily could have gone either way, seemingly caught Evans by surprise when the 28-29, 29-28 and 29-28 scores were read. Perhaps it was the satisfaction of knowing he won a round when he truly needed it.

UFC on FUEL TV 10 results: Submissions continue as Erick Silva taps Jason High

FORTALEZA, BRAZIL – Why a rash of submissions in the cradle of jiu-jitsu would come as a surprise is anyone’s guess, but Erick Silva wanted to make sure he didn’t miss the party. In the night’s ninth fight, Silva scored the card’s sixth submission with an armbar stoppage of Jason High just 71 seconds into the bout. The sixth submission of the card tied a UFC record. The welterweight bout was part of today’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 event at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. It aired on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook. Standout wrestler High went for a takedown quickly in the first round. But Silva sprawled his way out of it and after a furious ground scramble, he was able to wrap around to take High’s back. Silva looked like he might go after a triangle choke from High’s back, and High tried to power out of it by getting back to all fours.

Then he and the crowd at the 2008 “Strikeforce at the Dome” in Tacoma, Wash., got a big surprise. The power went out. “I thought I got knocked out,” Courchaine told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “It was pitch black. They turned on two floodlights, and I said, ‘Are we really gonna finish the fight like this?’ It was so hard to see.” The fight did finish, and Courchaine suffered a knockout loss, part of an 0-2 start to his pro career that made him question whether it was worth taking the time away from his roofing company and his family to train. But he continued. Courchaine heads into a June 14 matchup with Luis Santos (56-9-1) at XFC 24 at 15-5 with an eight-fight win streak, including three wins in consecutive months from January to March
