2021 PFL Championship results: Kayla Harrison dominates Taylor Guardado to win second championship

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Kayla Harrison has done it again. The two-time Olympic judo gold medalist has won her second PFL title and the $1 million prize that comes with it. Harrison (12-0) won the 2021 season by submitting Taylor Guardado in the women’s lightweight final in the main event of 2021 PFL Championship. The 2021 PFL Championship took place on Wednesday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood.

PFL analyst and MMA legend Randy Couture believes some of the best fighters in the sport compete under the promotion’s banner and they will have a chance to prove that at 2021 PFL Championship. From Ray Cooper III to Kayla Harrison , there are a few big names taking center stage on Wednesday evening to earn the season championship along with the $1 million prize. Couture spoke on a number of the competitors fighting, including Taylor Guardado ’s chances against the dominant Harrison and how the matchup relates to former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. PFL’s business model and it’s season format is unique to the MMA world, which means fighters have to show up and prove themselves every time they step out.

It turns out 2021 PFL finalist Taylor Guardado ’s uncle was a standout football player. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie Radio, Guardado (3-1) revealed her uncle is Chuck Muncie, who was a running back for the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers in the NFL. Muncie, who played nine seasons, finished his career with 6,702 rushing yards, 263 receptions for 2,323 yards and 74 touchdowns. Drug problems ultimately derailed his career, and he served time in prison before turning his life around by helping others through his “Chuck Muncie Youth Foundation.” Muncie died in 2013. Guardado’s other uncles, Bill and Nelson Munsey, were also professional football players

2021 PFL Playoffs 2 took place Thursday, and MMA Junkie provided live and official results. The event, which featured heavyweight and women’s lightweight playoffs, took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The main card aired on ESPN and streamed on ESPN+ following prelims on ESPN+. In the main event, 2019 PFL champion Kayla Harrison took on Genah Fabian in a women’s lightweight semifinal. The other women’s semifinal pitted Taylor Guardado against Mariana Morais , who is filled in for top-seeded Larissa Pacheco after she missed weight by two pounds . The heavyweight semifinals also took place on the main card, as Bruno Cappelozza took on Jamelle Jones and Ante Delija faced Denis Goltsov.
