Gaethje went on to beat Topuria at the White House and Pimblett gained some extra motivation after watching “The Highlight” take the 155-pound crown.

Arman Tsarukyan showed why he’s the top contender in the lightweight division in his one-sided win over Dan Hooker in the UFC Qatar main event last weekend. He believed the second-round submission win would earn him a title shot, but the champion would rather fight someone else. After winning the title by knocking out former champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 317, titleholder Ilia Topuria called out Paddy Pimblett . “The Baddy” was in attendance and entered the octagon and the two had a fiery exchange that ended with Topuria shoving Pimblett.

With blinding speed and power still on his side, Johnson kept Zellhuber guessing for much of the fight but a nasty punch in the second round scored a knockdown for the lightweight veteran that really helped him surge ahead. The punching power to the head and body made the difference with Johnson ultimately winning a decision with all three judges scoring the fight 29-28 in his favor.

While he hinted at that possibility several times prior to UFC 317 with hopes of eventually facing former lightweight king Islam Makhachev , Topuria says promotion officials already tried to talk him out of it
