Three years removed from competition, former UFC light heavyweight contender Thiago Silva makes his return to action against a familiar face. Silva (21-9) will share the cage at Eagle FC 47 with former teammate and current BKFC champion Hector Lombard on Friday at FLXcase Arena in Miami. Lombard (34-10-1) recently told MMA Junkie about the tough training sessions he and Silva shared at American Top Team, which the hard-hitting Brazilian confirmed. “Hector was a great teammate, to be honest,” Silva told MMA Junkie Radio.

MIAMI – Thiago Silva won’t have any issues putting his friendship with Hector Lombard aside when they throw down in the cage. Silva (21-9) meets former training partner Lombard (34-10-1) in the co-main event of Eagle FC 48 on May 20 at the FLXcast Arena, his first fight since 2019. The respect between Silva and Lombard is mutual, but once the cage door closes, none of it will matter.

Khabib Nurmagomedov ’s Eagle FC continues to add familiar names to its roster. A pair of UFC veterans have signed with the promotion as Hector Lombard and Thiago Silva now have a new home to showcase their skills. The promotion announced the signings Wednesday at a news conference ahead of Eagle FC 46 . Both fighters will compete in the light heavyweight division. Lombard (34-10-1), 44, has been active under the BKFC banner since his exit from the UFC in 2018

With two titles set to be on the line, next month’s KSW 49 just received a light heavyweight addition. After a win over James McSweeney in his promotional debut, Thiago Silva (21-8-0) will return to the KSW stage against Martin Zawada (28-14-1), a promotion official told MMA Junkie. KSW 19 takes place on May 18 at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. The event will also feature a scrap for the promotion’s vacant middleweight title, between Michael Materla and Scott Askham, as well as a welterweight title battle between champ Roberto Soldic and challenger Krystian Kaszubowski. Silva, a UFC and WSOF veteran, comes into the bout following a submission loss in the co-main event of Russian Cagefighting Championship 5 last December.

Twelve-time UFC veteran Thiago Silva (20-7) is moving to heavyweight to take on “The Ultimate Fighter 10” cast member James McSweeney (15-16) at KSW 45. Promotion officials recently announced that injury has forced Michal Adryszak out of a planned meeting with McSweeney, and Silva has agreed to step in on short notice for the Oct.

Clifford Starks replaces Thiago Silva on Saturday’s WSOF 22 main card

Clifford Starks Mike Kyle has a new opponent for Saturday’s WSOF 22 event following the removal of Thiago Silva from the card. Officials today announced Silva (16-4) was removed “due to (a) previous suspension,” and Clifford Starks (11-2) has stepped in to fight fellow light heavyweight Kyle (21-12-1). “We hope that Thiago will take the steps necessary to be in compliance with the state athletic commission so that he can make a quick return to action,” WSOF President Ray Sefo stated. “In the meantime, we appreciate Clifford Starks’ willingness to take the fight against Mike Kyle on just a few days’ notice, and look forward to having him compete for us again after putting on a great show in the WSOF cage in March.” WSOF 22 takes place at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card, including a pair of title fights with champs Rousimar Palhares and Marlon Moraes, airs on NBCSN following prelims on MMAjunkie. The Nevada State Athletic Commission wouldn’t license Silva due to an incident in 2011 in which the Brazilian submitted a fake urine sample
