This past Thursday’s PFL 2 event in Chicago featured one of the most bizarre finishes in recent memory, but one the Illinois State Athletic Commission insists was ruled correctly. Longtime MMA manager Alex Davis believes that needs to change. The contest in question saw featherweights Robert Watley (11-1) and Thiago Tavares (22-8-1) clash in each of their first regular season contest for the PFL’s inaugural season.

Thiago Tavares July’s TUF 23 Finale in Las Vegas continues to build with the addition of a new featherweight matchup. South Korea’s Doo Ho Choi (14-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is set to take on Brazil’s Thiago Tavares (20-6-1 MMA, 10-6-1 UFC) on the card. Korean website SpoTV News first reported the booking, though the UFC has not yet made a formal announcement of the matchup. The TUF 23 Finale takes place July 8, the eve of UFC 200, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass, though the bout order hasn’t been finalized.

Thomas Almeida SAO PAULO – Vitor Belfort , Thomas Almeida , Alex Oliveira , and Thiago Tavares each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 77 event. All four earned “Performance of the Night” honors; no “Fight of the Night” was given. UFC officials announced the winners via Twitter ahead of the post-event news conference. For the second time, Belfort (25-11 MMA, 14-7 UFC) took out Dan Henderson (31-14 MMA, 8-8 UFC) courtesy of a kick to the head followed up by punches. The Brazilian wowed his home fans with a first-round stoppage of Henderson in the main event. Their bout was a trilogy fight and the rubber match; “Hendo” won their 2006 fight, while “The Phenom” won in 2013 and again on Saturday.
