Almeida (22-5), a 10-fight UFC veteran, will return to action for the first time in more than four years when he takes on Taylor Moore (13-8) in a bantamweight bout that headlines Art of Scrap 10 on April 11 from Grand Wayne Center in Fort Wayne, Ind. He parted ways with the UFC later that year after going on a four-fight losing skid.

Thomas Almeida, Emily Whitmire among 5 fighters no longer on UFC roster

Five fighters are no longer on the UFC roster, including a former bantamweight contender. Multiple people with knowledge of the releases recently informed MMA Junkie of the roster moves but asked to remain anonymous since the promotion hasn’t made an official announcement. Sean O’Malley added another violent highlight to his reel Saturday. At UFC 260, O’Malley (13-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) put on a striking clinic for two rounds before he blasted Thomas Almeida with a violent knockout sequence late in Round 3. The bantamweight bout was part of the UFC 260 main card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+. O’Malley set the pace early as he stalked Almeida (22-5 MMA, 5-5 UFC) around the cage.

Sean O’Malley is raring to get back in the octagon – and he apparently has his next fight booked. O’Malley announced Tuesday night on his YouTube channel that he will face Thomas Almeida on March 27 at UFC 260. According to O’Malley, he received a bout agreement earlier Tuesday, which he was ready to sign. O’Malley (12-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), who earned his way into the UFC through “Dana White’s Contender Series,” opened his professional career with 12 straight wins, including four in the UFC, before suffering his first loss against Marlon Vera last August at UFC 252. O’Malley, 26, was finished by first-round TKO and was taken off on a stretcher after suffering a foot injury. O’Malley hasn’t fought since.
