With a successful promotional debut at Saturday’s UFC 163 event in her native Brazil, Amanda Nunes said her sights are set solely on a title fight. But before she gets there, she’s opening to settling some unfinished business. In an FX-televised preliminary-card bout at Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena, Nunes (8-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) needed a little more than two minutes to fight off a rear-naked-choke attempt and score a TKO victory over Sheila Gaff (10-6-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC). SEATTLE – It’s hard to get UFC welterweight Robbie Lawler to express much interest or emotion about anything, even when it comes to fighting. He won’t even brag about a recent TKO victory over Josh Koscheck , which followed a 2-4 skid and marked Lawler’s first UFC victory since 2004. But after some further thought, he finally perked up. “It was big for everyone else, but I knew what I could do,” he said of the “Knockout of the Night” performance at UFC 157. “But I guess it’s nice that everyone else kind of knows what I’m capable of. Maybe it put a little fear in some opponents. But I’m not too worried about that. Just fulfilling my dreams and fighting to the best of my ability is what I want to do, and that’s what I’m trying to do.” Lawler (20-9 MMA, 5-3 UFC) continues that quest on Saturday in a UFC on FOX 8 main-card bout at Seattle’s KeyArena, where he meets Bobby Voelker (24-9 MMA, 0-1 UFC), a late replacement for Siyar Bahadurzada (21-5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), himself a replacement for Tarec Saffiedine (14-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

Invicta FC crowned its first featherweight champion on Saturday with a pay-per-view headliner and rematch between Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and Marloes Coenen . The five-round bout, which helped mark the organization’s move from online to traditional PPV, took place at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo. Santos (12-1) earned a TKO victory in the first meeting at a 2010 Strikeforce event, and she looked to do it again when she rematched Coenen (21-6) this past weekend at the July 13 event. Tate is one of 21 athletes who appears in various states of undress for the annual “Body” edition. Tate, a former Strikeforce champion, recently made her UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale and suffered a loss to Cat Zingano , who mounted a third-round comeback to get the TKO victory. After UFC champion Ronda Rousey was featured prominently in the fourth installment, her rival, Miesha Tate , will appear in the fifth edition of ESPN The Magazine’s “The Body Issue.” Tate, who’s currently coaching opposite Rousey on “The Ultimate Fighter 18,” is one of 21 athletes who will appear in various states of undress for the magazine, officials today announced. The issue hits newsstands on July 12. Tate, a former Strikeforce champion, recently made her UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale and suffered a loss to Cat Zingano , who mounted a third-round comeback to get the TKO victory. Zingano then earned the right to coach opposite Rousey on “TUF 18,” but due to a knee injury, Tate recently replaced her.
