UFC parts ways with eight fighters, including two after decade-long tenures

Eight fighters are no longer on the UFC roster, including two athletes who were with the promotion approximately a decade each. Whether it was the impending wave of fighters who will be signed to compete on “ Dana White’s Contender Series,” Season 7 or simply performance or contract-based decisions, the promotion parted ways with these fighters in recent weeks. Algorithm-based Twitter account UFC Roster Watch first published the transactions when the promotion removed the fighters from official rankings eligibility. Unless denoted, it is unclear whether each athlete was released or fought out their contract.

LAS VEGAS – Tony Gravely let his hands do the talking this past Saturday and already knows who he wants to test his striking against next. On the prelims of UFC Fight Night 207 at the UFC Apex, Johnny Munoz found himself down and out just over a minute into the fight. Gravely (23-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) connected with an uppercut to the jaw just as Munoz (11-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) changed levels. It was a short, powerful strike, and after a couple of follow-up punches, the referee stopped the bout. After the fight, Gravely credited his success to the work he put in with his coaches, specifically the striking training drills. He said he doesn’t like to hit mitts because he feels it throws his range off, but Gravely’s coaches were able to figure out what works best for him.

Tony Gravely had a quick night at the office. The UFC bantamweight just needed a little over a minute to put away his opponent Johnny Munoz in the preliminary card of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 207 in Las Vegas. Gravely (23-7 MMA, 4-2 UFC) officially defeated Munoz (11-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) by first-round TKO at the 1:08 mark. Gravely connected with a well-timed uppercut, as Munoz looked to change levels and go for a takedown. The shot immediately sent Munoz to the canvas where Gravely only needed a couple of follow-up shots to get the referee to stop the bout just over a minute into the fight

UFC Fight Night 192 video: Nate Maness scores incredible comeback TKO of Tony Gravely

Nate Maness pulled off the comeback of the night against Tony Gravely on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 192 . After nearly getting finished with a big shot and being saved by the bell at the end of the first round, Maness (14-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) gathered himself and secured a big turnaround TKO against Gravely (21-7 MMA, 2-2 UFC) in the second round of their bantamweight matchup at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Maness clipped Gravely with a shot that sent him flying back into the fence and then swarmed with punches for the stoppage at the 2:10 mark of Round 2. It was clearly a good time to stop the fight, because Gravely attempted to take down referee Mark Smith after it was waved off. The proof is in the pudding for Gravely, who moved to South Florida with improvement on his mind – which he has since found. “It’s an amazing experience,” Gravely said at a pre-fight news conference Wednesday.
