LAS VEGAS – Tony Sims seemed to be in total control of almost the entire first round of his fight with Abel Trujillo . But after one unnecessary takedown attempt led Sims (12-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) to expose his neck, Trujillo (13-7 MMA, 4-3 UFC) wasted no time slapping on a guillotine choke to force the submission at the 3:18 mark of Round 1. The lightweight bout opened up the main card of today’s UFC 195 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

However, he’d rather you ignore it. “I don’t really have the nickname,” a bemused Sims said at Thursday’s open workouts for UFC 195. “A lot of people posted it. I broke my hand in a fight, and one of my coaches said, ‘You’re going to come back as a better version of yourself, ‘Tony 2.0.” “So I used it, but I don’t like the nickname. I’m not a gimmick type of guy.

Abel Trujillo UFC 195 is less than five weeks away, but it continues to grow with the addition of a new lightweight fight. Abel Trujillo (12-7 MMA, 3-3 UFC) is set to meet Tony Sims (12-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) at next month’s pay-per-view in Las Vegas. UFC officials recently announced the new booking. UFC 195 takes place Jan. 2 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

As it turned out, he didn’t need much more than a moment; Sims (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) rebounded seconds later with a hard left hand that hurt Montgomery (8-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC), and he followed it with another that planted him face down on the mat to bring about the TKO finish at the 2:43 mark of Round 1.
