“The Highlight” Justin Gaethje won the interim lightweight title last Saturday, defeating Paddy Pimblett via unanimous decision in the UFC 324 main event. Pimblett was knocked down and badly hurt several times throughout the bout but managed to stay in the fight and inflict damage until the end. Despite losing to Gaethje, UFC commentator and former two-division champion Daniel Cormier believes Pimblett won over fans and silenced the doubters. “Very rarely does a guy elevate in a loss as much as I believe Paddy Pimblett will elevate in this loss,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel

Roy Nelson set the UFC record for heavyweights for most strikes absorbed without being knocked out following his UFC 161 loss on Saturday night in Winnipeg. “Roy Nelson broke a UFC record tonight: 437 significant strikes absorbed without being knocked out. It’s a new UFC record,” said UFC president Dana White during the event’s post-fight press conference. “ (Frank) Mir and Joey Beltran have been hit more as heavyweights, but knocked out. Roy does not get knocked out,” added White. Nelson was defeated by Stipe Miocic in the event’s co-main event in a one-sided fight that saw Miocic land numerous strikes. His fights with Junior dos Santos , Fabricio Werdum , and and Mir also contributed significantly to the 437 total. Known for his punching power, grappling ability and granite chin, Nelson’s ability to take shots has become epic. His toughness can’t be questioned, and now he has a record to prove it.
