UFC heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum wants to wait for the winner of champion Cain Velasquez and former titleholder Junior dos Santos . UFC Tonight recently reported the 36-year-old’s desire to wait for a title shot. Werdum (17-5-1) has won his three fights in the UFC since returning to the organization in February 2012, defeating Roy Nelson , Mike Russow and former champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira . The Brazilian also has notable wins over Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Alistair Overeem . Werdum last competed on June 8, and expects to be back in action in February or March, but has no problems waiting a bit longer for a title shot. Velasquez and dos Santos fight for a third time at UFC 166 on Oct. 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston. They split their two previous meetings

Featherweights Charles Oliveira (16-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) and Estevan Payan (14-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) are the latest additions to this fall’s UFC 166 lineup. The Houston Chronicle first reported the matchup, which UFC officials later confirmed. The fight is expected for the event’s preliminary-card, though it’s not clear whether it will serve on the FOX Sports 1-televised or Facebook-streamed portion. UFC 166 takes place Oct. 19 at Houston’s Toyota Center and is headlined by a rubber match between heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez and ex-champ Junior dos Santos . Despite a good showing in his most recent outing, Oliveira is badly in need of a win in the UFC. The Texas-based Brazilian took on ex-champ Frankie Edgar at UFC 162 and lost a unanimous decision. Previously, he was knocked out by Cub Swanson at UFC 152

A featherweight match between Charles Oliveira and Estevan Payan has been added to the UFC 166 fight card slated for Oct. 19 in Houston. Oliveira (16-4-1) debuted in the UFC as an undefeated fighter against Darren Elkins in August 2010, winning by submission. He has gone 4-4-1 during his UFC tenure and is coming off back-to-back losses Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar in his last two outings. Oliveira has faced nothing but top competition since arriving in the organization, but is in desperate need of a victory. Payan (14-4, 1 no contest) made his UFC debut against Jeremy Stephens at UFC 160 on May 25, losing by unanimous decision. He’ll be looking to earn his first UFC win when he faces Oliveira. UFC 166 takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston on Oct

Matt Grice (15-5 MMA, 2-6 UFC) and Jeremy Larsen (8-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) are the latest additions to this fall’s UFC 166 event. UFC officials on Wednesday night announced the bout, which sees Larsen drop to 145 pounds for the first time. It’s not yet known whether the contest will serve on the event’s pay-per-view main card or preliminary cards, which air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on Facebook. UFC 166 takes place Oct. 19 at Houston’s Toyota Center. Larsen is in dire need of a win inside the octagon following back-to-back losses in a pair of UFC fights. On the regional scene, he went 8-2 in a five-year span before appearing on “The Ultimate Fighter 15.” Grice, meanwhile, also is looking to rebound after a valiant effort against Dennis Bermudez at UFC 157, which resulted in a split-decision loss and well-deserved “Fight of the Night” bonus.
