I just have to say that this was definitely a very difficult episode for me. I don’t even really know where to start. I guess I just have to start at the beginning. We open with shots of the teams returning home after Luke (Harris’) loss. It may seem like Vik (Grujic) is a little cold with his input on Luke’s eye, but its completely normal

Being that this episode was a Canada vs. Canada fight, it was pretty much all based around Team Canada, which was pretty interesting from my perspective. Everyone seemed happy with the semifinal matchups chosen by Dana White, and Team Canada knew some members would eventually have to fight each other, which is exactly what happened with Kajan Johnson and Chad Laprise . I didn’t know about a lot of what went on with Team Canada behind the scenes until viewing the episode.

Episode No. 8 of “The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs. Australia” opens with Team Canada’s Olivier Aubin-Mercier celebrating his victory over Team Australia’s Jake Matthews with a massive feast at the house. An emotional Matthews is down after his decision loss, but has the support of his teammates who tell him to keep positive and take the defeat as a learning experience. At the next Team Australia training session, head coach Kyle Noke brings in UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones as a special guest coach to help out of the team.

We open this week with Olivier Aubin-Mercier taking full advantage of the “eat anything you want after a fight” clause. He gets a massive poutine and a pizza and I believe some sort of cake, as well. Now Matthew Desroches was actually taking advantage of this clause at the same time because he had postponed his post-fight meal and had ordered it along with Oli’s. Matt can EAT, boy! I think here he downed a burger, poutine, a large pizza and a coconut cream pie to the head (by himself)! It was actually incredible to watch. I’ve never seen a man consume so much food in one sitting.

So this episode starts with a scene that I heard about while in the house but wasn’t there to experience. After Chad Laprise and Chris Indich ‘s fight, Nordine Taleb was in the gym kitchen with the Aussie team grabbing a drink. Chris, while holding an ice pack on his head goes, “Hey, Nordine. I can take a punch.” He proceeds to say that he heard our team talking trash before the fight about how he can’t take a shot and that this will be the first series that a team sweeps the season going 8-0. When I heard about this, I was a little taken aback because it seemed a little out of Chris’ character from what I knew of him
