These days, he’s doing a lot of laundry. “When I stopped worrying about what everybody else was doing in their camps or whatever the fans were going to say or comments on YouTube, the only thing that mattered was the hours I was putting in the gym and the sweat and the amount of T-shirts I had to wash the next day,” he told MMAjunkie Radio. “I’m like, ‘Dude, how do I not have any more clothes after six years of adding all this stuff?’ But that’s how hard I’m working out, and that’s how much I’m performing inside there.” The laundry/performance metric might be a new one for MMA fans, but the changing of training camps and support staff is not. Ferguson linked up with a new coach, grappling guru Eddie Bravo, and moved to Orange County, Calif. He signed on with a new manager, too

WSOF champ Marlon Moraes: People ‘too hard’ on Renan Barao after UFC 177

Renan Barao has received heat from UFC President Dana White, fellow fighters, fans and others for his last-minute withdrawal from this past month’s UFC 177 main event with champ T.J. Dillashaw. One person standing by Barao’s side, though, is fellow Brazilian Marlon Moraes . The reigning WSOF bantamweight champion feels the MMA world is “going too hard” on Barao after he was hospitalized and was forced out of the fight just prior to weigh-ins. “I think they’re going too hard on him,” Moraes told MMAjunkie. “It’s just the first time it’s happened.

After canceled fight, UFC bantamweight Anthony Birchak arrives home to robbery

UFC bantamweight Anthony Birchak (11-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) went home without a fight at UFC 177, and his home is now empty following an apparent robbery. Birchak, whose opponent Joe Soto (15-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was promoted last-minute to a title fight with champ T.J. Dillashaw, tweeted on Sunday, “Wow so if this weekend couldn’t get more fu^%ed up we just got home to find we got robbed!!! When it rains it pours everything’s gone!” Birchak’s PR rep told MMAjunkie the fighter may have an idea of who robbed him but declined further comment

Following third straight loss at UFC 177, Lorenz Larkin plans drop to welterweight

Lorenz Larkin started his MMA career as a light heavyweight. He dropped to middleweight in 2012, but has found mixed results. From all indications, a move down to the welterweight division is next. Larkin (14-4 MMA, 1-4 UFC), who last fought at 185 pounds, suffered his third consecutive loss at UFC 177 when Derek Brunson (12-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) outworked him en route to a unanimous decision

UFC President Dana White may not read the Internet, as he often says, but for a majority of the MMA community, the sport lives and breaths through websites, forums and, perhaps most importantly, social media. Fighters interact with fans, each other and many more through the likes of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which helps outsiders get a deeper look into the minds of the athletes. Following Saturday’s UFC 177 pay-per-view event at Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena, several of the winning and losing fighters, along with their coaches, training partners and/or family members, took to social media to react to the event or share a message with supporters.
