Weidman (13-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) meets Gegard Mousasi (41-6-2 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in the co-main event of next month’s UFC 210 event, which takes place at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y. The night’s main card airs on pay-per-view following preliminary bouts on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. It’s a big fight in the 185-pound division

Filed under: News , UFC , Videos The UFC has a pair of epic career resurgences going on in the heavyweight division right now, and we’ll soon see what happens when they collide. Former heavyweight champions Andrei Arlovski (24-10 MMA, 13-4 UFC) and Frank Mir (18-9 MMA, 16-9 UFC) meet in the co-main event of UFC 191 next month. In 2011, it looked like Arlovski’s career was dead in the water. He was on a four-fight skid, including first-round knockout losses to Fedor Emelianenko, Brett Rogers and Sergei Kharitonov in the Affliction and Strikeforce promotions. But he won six of his next seven fights and got another shot with the UFC, returning in 2014 more than six years after he left.

John Makdessi is making the best of a bad situation – and even making it an educational one. Makdessi (13-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC), a veteran UFC lightweight, is on the mend after filling in as a late replacement and suffering a broken jaw in a loss to Donald Cerrone (28-6 MMA, 15-3 UFC) this past month at UFC 187. The pay-per-view fight was stopped late in the second round when Cerrone connected on a head kick and broke his opponent’s jaw. Here’s a look at the crushing blow (via Vine ), which forced an immediate tap from Makdessi, who was fighting for the second time in 28 days: Makdessi had successful surgery two days after the Las Vegas event. Johnson declined Cerrone at UFC 187; now wants ‘Cowboy’ in ‘real’ title eliminator

Donald Cerrone Michael Johnson said he was the first man offered to replace injured Khabib Nurmagomedov against Donald Cerrone at this past weekend’s UFC 187 event. John Makdessi ultimately filled in, but after watching the fight, Johnson said he regrets declining the opportunity. “I was the first one they called, but unfortunately, timing’s everything, and I couldn’t take it,” Johnson told MMAjunkie Radio. “I was dealing with a little shoulder problem I had to get worked out on, and three weeks of me not really training isn’t enough time to get ready for a fight like ‘Cowboy.’” Cerrone (28-6 MMA, 15-3 UFC) defeated Makdessi by second-round TKO on this past Saturday’s pay-per-view main card to earn his eighth consecutive victory, the longest active streak in the UFC lightweight division. He delivered a strong performance that ended when “Cowboy” landed a head kick that broke Makdessi’s jaw. After the fight, Cerrone said he entered the fight with a lingering rib injury .

Michael Bisping Veteran UFC middleweight Michael Bisping said watching Chris Weidman stop Vitor Belfort at UFC 187 was a bittersweet experience. Why wouldn’t he? He’s as sour as ever on Belfort. “I looked at (Belfort), and he looks like half the man he used to be, quite literally,” Bisping (26-7 MMA, 16-7 UFC) told MMAjunkie during a teleconference in support of his headliner against Thales Leites (25-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 72. “His legs look like two little chicken legs dangling out of a female’s body, and he looked like, to be honest, my 14-year-old son could have beaten him up.” If that wasn’t enough of a kick to the downed Belfort’s ribs, Bisping dropped the mic with this: “Chris Weidman made him look like the coward he is.” Fighting words, indeed.
