As the first bout of the night got underway, one judge’s chair sat empty. MMA Fighting photographer Esther Lin, who was positioned next to the unused seat, took to her Twitter feed to make note of the odd site.

UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve has an opponent in mind: Josh Barnett

Filed under: News , UFC Fresh off a submission victory and now on a solid 3-1 run, Stefan Struve said he’s ready for a step up in competition. Struve (28-8 MMA, 12-6 UFC) defeated fellow heavyweight Daniel Omielanczuk (19-6-1 MMA, 4-3 UFC) via second-round submission this past weekend at UFC 204. The victory moved Struve ever closer to a return to the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA heavyweight rankings (he’s No. 12 in the official UFC rankings), and he’s now looking up the list for a possible next opponent. “December or January makes sense for me for sure, depending on the fight the UFC wants to give me,” Struve told “ Toe-2-Toe with Brian Stann ” (via Twitter ).

In the headliner, middleweight champion Michael Bisping (30-7 MMA, 20-7 UFC), a Manchester native, delighted his home fans with a unanimous-decision win over Dan Henderson (32-15 MMA, 9-9 UFC) in a rematch and his first title defense. But he gave them a few scares, too, when Henderson landed his massive right hand and twice put Bisping on the canvas. Nearly half the video is highlights from that epic five-round war. On Sunday the veteran referee posted a series of tweets following his officiating of a preliminary-card bout at Saturday’s UFC 204 event at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. In the final minute of the featured UFC Fight Pass prelim – after three rounds of hard-hitting back-and-forth action – Mike Perry (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) finally delivered a fight-ending knee on welterweight Danny Roberts (13-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC). However, with Roberts clearly done, Perry unloaded some clearly unneeded followup shots before Goddard finally, and mercifully, waved off the bout.

Diakiese (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) got his game going in the second round, however, and scored a TKO win over Sajewski (13-3 MMA, 0-3 UFC) after battering him against the cage. The lightweight bout was part of UFC 204’s preliminary card at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. It aired on FS1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of the main card on pay-per-view. The early takedown was a worst-case scenario for Diakiese, who has battled criticism of his ground game during his rise as a prospect.
