UFC’s Cynthia Calvillo informed of potential USADA violation for marijuana

On the heels of her first loss, UFC strawweight Cynthia Calvillo has been dealt another blow. Calvillo (6-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has been informed of a potential violation by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency stemming from a positive drug test for marijuana, the UFC announced late Wednesday night. The positive test stems from an in-competition sample collected in conjunction with UFC 219, which took place Dec. 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It appears that Cris Cyborg is human after all and, much like the rest of us, doesn’t actually enjoy getting slapped in the face. Recently, the champ published a video in which coach Jason Parillo does just that before Cyborg’s UFC 219 headliner against Holly Holm. While slaps aren’t an uncommon practice to get MMA fighters pumped before their fights (looking at you, Clay Guida ), this one did look particularly – and painfully – well-executed. But hey, there’s something to be said for tradition.

He completely dominated Barboza (19-5 MMA, 13-5 UFC) for three rounds, winning a unanimous decision by scores of 30-25, 30-25 and 30-24 . For Matheus Nicolau, promising UFC career launched by Wanderlei-Sakuraba VHS tape

It contained a 2001 PRIDE fight between Wanderlei Silva and Kazushi Sakuraba – the first of three between the MMA legends. When it came time to think about his own future, a young Nicolau (13-1-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who continued his undefeated octagon run with a recent and dominant decision victory over flyweight Louis Smolka (11-5 MMA, 5-5 UFC) at UFC 219, popped in the tape and watched in awe.
