In perhaps Tyron Woodley ’s best performance to date, the former UFC welterweight champion was able to show off his well-rounded game. Woodley put his title on the line against then unbeaten rising star Darren Till in the main event of UFC 228. Despite being champ, Woodley was the betting underdog. It was an aggressive start from Woodley, who charged at Till with a combination then quickly engaged in the clinch. But they were quickly separated, and for the rest of the round, both men were tentative to throw.

After UFC 228 fight failed, Dennis Bermudez says he’d ‘kick a hole’ through Ryan Hall’s chest

NEW YORK – Dennis Bermudez claims he was close to fighting Ryan Hall at September’s UFC 228 event. It didn’t come to fruition, but “The Menace” said he’s still open to making the fight after UFC on ESPN+ 1. Bermudez (16-9 MMA, 9-7 UFC) will move up to the lightweight division to fight Te Edwards (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 1 card

Valentina Shevchenko isn’t done dishing out harsh words for former UFC women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano . Shevchenko (15-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) was supposed to challenge Montano (4-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) for the title at UFC 228 earlier this month. The fight fell apart on weigh-in day, though, when Montano was hospitalized due to a bad weight cut and stripped of the title shortly thereafter.

Attorney: UFC’s Abdul Razak Alhassan intends to plead not guilty in sexual assault case

UFC welterweight Abdul Razak Alhassan is expecting to face trial for alleged sexual assault. MMAjunkie obtained a two-page indictment handed down Monday by a grand jury in Tarrant County, Texas, where Alhassan is accused of raping two women on March 23. Alhassan, who competed at UFC 228 earlier this month, is due in 371st District Court on Oct. 24 at 8:30 a.m local time. Report: UFC’s Abdul Razak Alhassan indicted for alleged sex assault while working as bouncer

Five months before Abdul Razak Alhassan knocked out Niko Price at UFC 228, the welterweight fighter was freed on a $20,000 bail bond for a sexual assault charge. Alhassan might not have even made the fight had a judge not granted a request to modify the terms of his bail so he could train and fight outside his hometown, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram . The newspaper, citing court records, reports that Alhassan, 33, was indicted Monday on two counts of sexual assault. He is accused of driving home two intoxicated women and raping both of them inside one of their homes. MMAjunkie was unable to reach Alhassan or his management. A request for comment from the UFC went unanswered.

UFC champ Tyron Woodley schedules hand surgery, ruled out of UFC 230

The reigning UFC welterweight champion requires surgery. Woolley (19-3-1 MMA, 9-2-1 UFC) worried about potential injuries following his second-round submission victory over Darren Till (17-1-1 MMA, 5-1-1 UFC) at UFC 228 this month. He’s fears were confirmed today when he found out a procedure will be required on his right hand to repair three torn ligaments, putting him on the sidelines for between eight and 12 weeks. MMAjunkie verified Woodley’s surgery plans with a member of his team following an initial report from ESPN.com .
