At UFC 241, Diaz drew ex-champ Pettis into a grueling, in-close fight as he looked to drag the action into deep waters. Pettis managed to survive to the final bell, but Diaz’s offensive output was too much to overcome when the fight went to the scorecards.

Costa faced Romero in the co-main event of UFC 241 determined to cement himself as the next middleweight title challenger, and he did just that after a memorable back-and-forth battle that saw the Brazilian earn a unanimous decision in Anaheim, Calif. Costa pressured Romero early, but Romero fired back with a big swing and a miss, showing his threat on the counter early. The Cuban powerhouse then showed his power as he connected with a head kick, then landed a solid takedown, but Costa defended well and the action soon returned to the feet.

Stipe Miocic was eager to get his belt back. After losing the UFC heavyweight title to Daniel Cormier at UFC 226, Miocic (19-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) held out until he got his wish and rematched Cormier in the UFC 241 main event in August 2019. Cormier got the best of Miocic in the first fight by knocking him out in Round 1, but the second fight played out a lot differently. The pair exchanged leg kicks early, but Cormier was then able to land a big slam takedown, controlling Miocic for the rest of the round. In Round 2, Miocic started to piece his combinations together well, but Cormier was firing back with shots of his own. Both men threw big shots in a round that played out entirely on the feet.

The undefeated UFC middleweight contender is among six fighters from this month’s UFC 241 card who’ve been given notice by the California State Athletic Commission to move up a division, according to a public records request made by MMA Junkie on Wednesday. LAS VEGAS – Count UFC president Dana White among those who believes a third fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier might be something pretty special. “Stipe and Cormier, that was a (expletive) war between two heavyweights that hit like trucks,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie, following Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series 25 event. Miocic (19-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) and Cormier (22-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) headlined this past weekend’s UFC 241 event in California, and the bout served as a rematch of their initial meeting in 2018. That night, “DC” shocked the world with a first-round KO of then-champ Miocic to become a dual titleholder. This past Saturday, the fight played out very differently, with the contest progressing to the fourth round. Still, Cormier was in the lead heading into that frame, with judges’ scores at 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 in his favor
