Justin Gaethje versus Michael Chandler was exactly as advertised – if not better. Lightweight sluggers Gaethje and Chandler met at UFC 268 this past November in what turned out to be one of the greatest fights in the promotion’s history. Chandler came out charging in Round 1 and Gaethje met him right in the middle. Both men attacked with low calf kicks and it took just over a minute for them to start exchanging bombs in the pocket. Midway through the round, Chandler threw a flying knee followed by a big right which wobbled Gaethje, but Gaethje stumbled Chandler on the counter in what was a wild opening frame.

According to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman , he went into his most recent fight compromised. Usman (19-1 MMA, 14-0 UFC) revealed he broke his right hand three weeks prior to his rematch with Colby Covington at UFC 268 earlier this month, which he won by unanimous decision . Though Usman didn’t show any signs of his hand being affected when he knocked Covington down twice in Round 2, the champion says the injury happened during a sparring session with UFC lightweight contender and teammate Justin Gaethje, just a couple of weeks out of the fight.

Colby Covington thinks his late surge was enough to dethrone Kamaru Usman at UFC 268. Covington (16-3 MMA, 11-3 UFC) lost a unanimous decision to welterweight champion Usman (20-1 MMA, 15-0 UFC) earlier this month, in what was another competitive fight after their all-out war at UFC 245. Although their rematch played out differently, Covington’s toughness was on full display once again. He had to battle through some early adversity when he was rocked twice in Round 2 but came out strong in the championship rounds. But despite his best efforts, he wasn’t able to outlast Usman on the judges’ scorecards and Covington thinks he was wronged. “I clearly won that fight three to two,” Covington told Submission Radio .
