There were definite improvements to what Robert Whittaker brought to the table in his second fight against Israel Adesanya. But when UFC 271 came to a close this past Saturday, it still was Adesanya with the middleweight belt around his waist after a unanimous decision win over former champ Whittaker. Whittaker thinks a third title fight with Adesanya is inevitable . But how long will it take for him to get there, and what should he do moving forward to help ensure a different outcome if he gets another crack at it? Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of “Gorgeous” George Garcia, Brian “Goze” Garcia and Nolan King discussed that with host John Morgan.

Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya defended his title yet again this past Saturday at UFC 271. After his unanimous decision win over former champion Robert Whittaker, whom he beat to win the belt in 2019, Adesanya rated himself a 7 of 10 . Adesanya’s win was his fourth successful title defense, though he claims he’s got five defenses of the belt since he counts his first win over Whittaker, when he was an interim champ in a title unification bout, as a defense of the title.

Nasrat Haqparast undergoes hand surgery after UFC 271 loss to Bobby Green

Nasrat Haqparast is looking to ensure the best version of himself turns up in his next UFC fight after suffering back-to-back losses. Following his unanimous decision defeat to Bobby Green this past Saturday at UFC 271 , Haqparast (13-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) underwent surgery on his left hand. According to the lightweight fighter, there have been lingering issues with the hand for his past four fights in which he’s gone 2-2. He decided to get the damage repaired and revealed on social media that he had surgery this week in Los Angeles (via Instagram ): Finally after the last 4 fights, training camps and years of pain with a broken hand I got surgery from the best hand surgeon in the world

Alexander Hernandez calls UFC 271 loss ‘pretty defeating,’ feels uncertain about future

Alexander Hernandez finds himself feeling deflated after UFC 271. Hernandez (13-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) was submitted by Renato Moicano (16-4-1 MMA, 8-4 UFC) on Saturday at Toyota Center in Houston, failing to string together a winning streak once again. The first round was back and forth, with one judge awarding Hernandez the opening frame. But more than a minute into Round 2, Moicano was able to hurt and then submit Hernandez in what was an entertaining bout. After campaigning to be on the main card and eventually getting his wish, this particular loss has Hernandez contemplating his future .
