There have been over 650 events in UFC history since its debut in 1993. Of those events, the 10 atop the all-time attendance records provided memorable moments amplified by unique environments with palpable energy. The top 10 largest attendances in UFC history feature six countries: Canada (4), Australia (2), Russia (1), Sweden (1), Mexico (1), and Brazil (1). Eight of the events were pay-per-views, while two of the three most recent were UFC Fight Nights. Five of those events hit the 30,000 attendee mark.

In a fair world, Jonathan Goulet would be best remembered for his performance at UFC 83. Goulet was in the opening match of one of the most memorable evenings in mixed martial arts history, the UFC’s debut at Bell Centre in Montreal, the first UFC event ever held in Canada. The line outside the building extended for blocks hours before the April 19, 2008 card began. Unlike today, when you’re likely to see early prelims unfold in near-empty arenas, a healthy percentage of the announced crowd of 21,390 were in their seats and fired up by the time the show started. Then Quebec native Goulet and Kuniyoshi Hironaka put on a dazzling show in the welterweight opener. Hironaka nearly finished Goulet in the first round, with Goulet being saved by the horn

Just one year earlier at UFC 69, Matt Serra pulled off the upset and defeated St-Pierre via first-round TKO to knock off the welterweight champion in stunning fashion in his first title defense. After winning the interim title with a submission of Matt Hughes at UFC 69 to avenge his only other loss, St-Pierre turn his attention to a rematch with Serra set for April 19, 2008 at UFC 83. It was a landmark event as it marked the UFC’s first trip to Canada at Bell Centre in St-Pierre’s hometown of Montreal.
