The UFC’s first India-born fighter has been suspended for two years after testing positive for multiple performance-enhancers. UFC anti-doping partner U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) today announced Bharat Kandare (5-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who hails from Maharashtra, India, accepted a two-year term after testing positive for a steroid and selective estrogen receptor modulator, or SERM.

Story updated at 3:23 p.m. ET to reflect comment from UFC anti-doping partner USADA. Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva tested positive for methyltestosterone – a synthetic testosterone – and an unspecified diuretic prior to UFC Fight Night 122, according to a recent report. Silva’s reps are pushing for a reduced suspension following the ex-champ’s second failed test, arguing a failure from January 2015 was not under the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency and shouldn’t be considered when deciding his punishment. Silva (34-8 MMA, 17-4 UFC) failed an out-of-competition test and was pulled from a fight with Kelvin Gastelum (14-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) at the event this past November. USADA might factor in doping violations that occurred prior to the implementation of the UFC’s anti-doping program.

UFC’s James Mulheron accepts one-year suspension for anti-doping violation

UFC heavyweight James Mulheron will be sitting out most of 2018. Mulheron (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC), a 29-year-old Englishman, accepted a one-year suspension by UFC anti-doping partner USADA for a failed drug test conducted prior a November fight, which was slated for UFC Fight Night 122 in Shangai. In a press release, USADA announced Mulheron failed an out-of-competition test due to clomiphene and its metabolite, hydroxyclomiphene – a specified substance in the class of hormone and metabolic modulators that is prohibited year-round. The suspension is retroactive to Nov. 17, 2017. Mulheron was pulled from the Nov.

Curran (4-6 MMA, 1-6 UFC) suffered her fourth consecutive loss in UFC competition this past month when she dropped a unanimous decision to Yan Xiaonan at UFC Fight Night 122 in Shanghai. Curran joined the UFC roster in late 2014 when she was just 23 years old and had only three pro fights, and since then she’s struggled to keep her head above water. Parillo, who has served as one of Bisping’s (30-9 MMA, 20-9 UFC) primary trainers for the past several years, doesn’t believe his fighter needs to continue to compete if he’s only doing it for the money. “The Count” was a UFC titleholder a month ago, but after back-to-back stoppage losses against Gastelum and Georges St-Pierre within a three-week span, Parillo doesn’t believe more fights are necessary. “In my opinion, Michael Bisping’s done enough,” Parillo told MMAjunkie. “I don’t think Michael Bisping ever has to fight again.
