An in-competition failure for a recreational drug has netted UFC welterweight Brad Scott a two-year suspension, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced today. According to a press release , Scott (11-6 MMA, 3-5 UFC) failed an in-competition test for benzoylecgonine – a metabolite of cocaine – after his loss to Carlo Pedersoli Jr. (11-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 130, which took place May 27 in Liverpool, England. Cocaine is classified as a non-specified substance in the class of stimulants under the UFC’s anti-doping program and is banned in-competition. First-time offenders face a two-year sanction

After watching UFC welterweight Darren Till cut weight, the head of the Association of Boxing Commissions believes another death is around the corner in MMA. “I was appalled seeing seven people sit there and push this kid to the point where he lost his vision,” Mike Mazzulli, who also serves as the director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation, told MMAjunkie after watching a video of Till’s weight cut released today. In the video, which was released by Till (17-0-1 MMA, 5-0-1 UFC) sponsor Paddy Power, the U.K. star struggles to make weight for his fight against Stephen Thompson (14-3-1 MMA, 9-3-1 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 130, which took place this past Sunday in Liverpool, England. On Till’s second day of losing weight, he reports losing his sight after walking on the treadmill.

Just how bad was Darren Till ’s weight cut ahead of this past week’s UFC Liverpool event? Bad enough that the welterweight slugger briefly lost vision during his attempt to trim a final 11 pounds the night before weigh-ins. Irish bookmaker Paddy Power today released a fifth installment of “Behind the scenes with Darren Till at #UFCLiverpool,” and the short video shows dramatic and somewhat concerning clips of Till doing his best to shed a reported 5 kilograms (approximately 11 pounds) the night before UFC Fight Night 130’s official weigh-ins. Till (17-0-1 MMA, 5-0-1 UFC), of course, was unable to make the welterweight limit , registering 174.5 pounds for his headlining bout with Stephen Thompson (14-3-1 MMA, 9-3-1 UFC) at this past Sunday’s event at Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Thompson took the fight anyway, and Till was able to edge him out over the course of five rounds, taking home a contentious decision win .
