Cory Sandhagen was willing to leave the octagon with one less limb before tapping out to Iuri Alcantara . In his return to bantamweight following a lengthy run at 145 pounds, Sandhagen faced Alcantara at UFC Fight Night 135 in August 2018, in a fight in which the Elevation Fight Team athlete showed incredible toughness. Sandhagen found himself battling some early adversity when he was caught with a flurry, then a deep armbar that he somehow survived. Alcantara had Sandhagen’s arm fully extended, but a bloodied up Sandhagen refused to tap and eventually managed to escape. Sandhagen then wound up in top position and proceeded to rain down heavy ground and pound on Alcantara, who found himself in trouble of his own but managed to last the round. In Round 2, Sandhagen was able to stun Alcantara right off the bat and continued to punish him on the ground until the referee finally stopped the fight 61 seconds into the frame.

Vick (13-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) had talked himself into a fight with Justin Gaethje (19-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC), attacking verbally until he was chosen when the star slugger needed a late replacement at UFC Fight Night 135.
As things currently stand, it’s looking like Eryk Anders won’t get his chance to meet Elias Theodorou in Canada. But “no worries,” says Anders, he’ll get there eventually. And, in any case, it’s not like he doesn’t have other options; it is quite a deep roster, after all, when you’re willing to fight pretty much anyone. “I think by now the fans and the people in the UFC know that I’m down to fight anybody, at any time,” Anders told MMAjunkie Radio after ruling out only “homie” Brad Tavares. “Just give me a few weeks to cut weight, and I’ll show up, every rep.” Anders (11-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has recently bounced back from his first career loss – and he did it in quite impressive fashion , earning himself a $50,000 bonus and a nod as MMAjunkie’s “Knockout of the Month ” for the devastating head-kick that finished Tim Williams at UFC Fight Night 135.

Newly minted UFC featherweight Michael Johnson has a few resolutions following a successful octagon follow-up at 145 pounds. “Money is definitely an issue,” Johnson (18-13 MMA, 10-9 UFC) told MMAjunkie Radio after a split call over Andre Fili (18-6 MMA, 6-5 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 135 this past Saturday. “It’s not an issue, but it’s definitely a must to have. But at the same time, I need to get back to enjoying the sport.” Johnson said the latter desire is definitely the more important thing, because when he solely focuses on his bottom line, he tends to lose sight of what’s really important. “I need to get back to enjoying fighting and saying ‘f’ the money,” he said.

LINCOLN, Neb. – Megan Anderson came into the UFC with a four-fight winning streak and an Invicta FC women’s featherweight title to her credit, but three rounds in the cage with Holly Holm was enough to hit pause on her rise through the 145-pound ranks.
