For three straight fights, Cub Swanson has walked out to a song from “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.” For real. This past December, Swanson called on “Krabby Step” by Lil Mosey, Swae Lee and Tyga from the movie for his walkout to fight Darren Elkins at UFC Fight Night 199. Swanson won the fight with a brutal enough TKO that his “Killer Cub” moniker was right on the money. But that night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Swanson had his wife, former UFC host Kenda Perez, and three kids on hand to watch him in person

Stephen Thompson has no intention of calling it a career after his recent loss to Belal Muhammad . Thompson (16-6-1 MMA, 11-6-1 UFC) dropped a lopsided unanimous decision to Muhammad in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 199, marking his second straight loss. It was the second straight time “Wonderboy” was controlled on the ground, but the 38-year-old says he still physically feels in top form. “I can’t believe people are saying that I’m old and I should retire,” Thompson said on his YouTube channel

This week, we take a look at Angela Hill vs. Amanda Lemos , a main card bout at UFC Fight Night 199 which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The official end result of this back-and-forth battle was a split decision, in which two judges scored the bout in favor of Lemos. No judge saw the fight the same, in fact, all three only agreed on scoring the first for Lemos

Macy Chiasson ’s short notice appearance at UFC Fight Night 199 did not go as planned. Chiasson (7-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) The Ultimate Fighter Season 28 winner, stepped in on 10 days’ notice, replacing the injured Julia Avila to face former title challenger Raquel Pennington at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Pennington (13-8 MMA, 10-5 UFC) won the bout via submission in the second round, preventing Chiasson from stretching her win streak to three. “Not the results that we hoped for but I’m happy I got to end 2021 with another great fight,” Chiasson wrote on Instagram .

Diego Ferreira reveals he injured rib prior to UFC Fight Night 199 loss to Mateusz Gamrot

Diego Ferreira entered UFC Fight Night 199 with an already compromised rib. Ferreira (17-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) suffered a TKO loss to Mateusz Gamrot this past Saturday, marking the Brazilian’s third straight loss. Midway through Round 2, Ferreira ate a big knee to the ribs, and he immediately looked at the referee and asked him to stop the bout. According to Ferreira, he injured his rib three weeks prior to the fight but did not want to withdraw. He took to Instagram to explain what happened.

Meerschaert (34-14 MMA, 9-6 UFC) picked up his third-straight submission win of the year when he came from behind to choke out Dustin Stoltzfus this past Saturday at UFC Fight Night 199. It was a perfect and rather poetic way for Meerschaert to cap off his great year after a rough 2020. He started 2020 with a submission win over Deron Winn, but was then stopped in back-to-back bouts by Ian Heinisch in June and Khamzat Chimaev in September
