And yet, that’s where we’re at with Magomed Ankalaev coming out of UFC Fight Night 203. On Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Ankalaev defeated former light heavyweight title challenger Thiago Santos by unanimous decision . Overall, it was a lackluster fight, but it was still a key win in the division. Still, did Ankalaev somehow hurt his immediate title-shot hopes? Javid Basharat wants quick turnaround after Ramadan, thinks Guido Cannetti makes sense

LAS VEGAS – Javid Basharat has already mapped out what he wants next. Basharat (12-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) remained unbeaten when he defeated Trevin Jones this past Saturday at UFC Fight Night 203 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. He plans on taking some time off for Ramadan, which starts April 2 and lasts for a month, but wants to get back in the cage right after that. On the same night as Basharat’s UFC debut win, Guido Cannetti (9-6 MMA, 3-5 UFC) needed just one round to take out Kris Moutinho, and Basharat thinks matchmakers should pit them against each other. “Ramadan is coming up now, so I’m going to obviously have to take time off fighting a little bit – but I’ll still be training,” Basharat told reporters at the post-fight news conference

With one judge scoring the first two rounds for Nchukwi this past Saturday at UFC Fight Night 203, Murzakanov (11-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) came into Round 3 with a sense of urgency. On the prelims of UFC Fight Night 203 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Jackson (20-4-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) submitted Kamuela Kirk in the second round to pick up his second-straight victory. Kirk (11-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was a game opponent, but Jackson leaned on his grappling game in the second round and ultimately found a way to lock in an arm triangle choke to force a tap. “At this point in my life, I’m feeling pretty secure about where I’m at with my family, where I’m at with my job, my career, and then with the UFC it’s like things just kind of click,” Jackson told MMA Junkie and other reporters at the post-fight news conference. “I think every fighter cycles through your ups and downs.
