Filed under: News , UFC Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski still packs one heck of a punch. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva found that out the hard way. Arlovski traveled to Silva’s native Brazil in September 2014 to headline UFC Fight Night 51. Arlovski was the underdog heading into the fight, but as the two traded shots on the feet, a perfectly placed right hand sent Silva crashing to the floor. Massive hammerfists followed, sealing the first-round knockout for “The Pit Bull.” Arlovski (25-10 MMA, 14-4 UFC) has since gone on to register wins over Travis Browne and Frank Mir, as well, and he competes again at Saturday’s UFC 195 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, where he takes on Stipe Miocic (13-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) in a bout that could very well determine a future challenger to the UFC heavyweight title. CABMMA denies appeal of UFC’s Piotr Hallman; Trevor Smith yet to apply

UFC lightweight Piotr Hallman ‘s suspension has been upheld after a second drug test confirmed the presence of the steroid drostanolone. The Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) confirmed with MMAjunkie that Hallmann (15-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) requested the commission test the “B” sample from his post-fight urine test at UFC Fight Night 51, where he lost a split decision loss to Gleison Tibau (30-10 MMA, 15-8 UFC) at the Sept. 13 event in Brasilia, Brazil. The UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory tested the sample and again found drostanolone, which prompted CABMMA to uphold a nine-month suspension issued to Hallman after his “A” sample came back positive.

CABMMA responds after UFC’s Piotr Hallman questions failed drug test

UFC lightweight Piotr Hallmann can request a retest of a urine sample that recently resulted in a failed drug test due to a steroid, according to the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA), Brazil’s MMA commission. The fighter’s blood sample is another matter. After the fighter complained about the commission’s methods at UFC Fight Night 51 and questioned the result that stripped him of a $50,000 fight-might bonus, CABMMA is defending its findings.

‘Fight of the Night’ winner Piotr Hallmann fails UFC Fight Night 51 drug test

Piotr Hallmann has been suspended nine months following a failed drug test at this past month’s UFC Fight Night 51 event, where he won a “Fight of the Night” bonus. The Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA) today announced Hallman who co-headlined the UFC Fight Pass-streamed event, tested positive for the anabolic steroid drostanolone.

Good news for UFC heavyweight Antonio Silva : A long-planned surgery was apparently successful. The fighter, who recently suffered a knockout loss to resurgent Andrei Arlovski in Sept. 13’s UFC Fight Night 51 headliner, posted a post-surgery photo this morning. As “Bigfoot” wrote (via Instagram ): “my surgery was a success, i’ll be back soon.Thank you to everyone who sent me their positive thoughts and energy” As MMAjunkie reported prior to his fight, Silva suffers from acromegaly , a form of gigantism that occurs when the pituitary gland initially produces excess growth hormone and then eventually depletes production. According to the fighter’s manager, Alex Davis, it’s caused by a cyst on the pituitary gland

BRASILIA, Brazil – In town to promote for the UFC, women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey chose to hold off a backstage interview at UFC Fight Night 51 so she could watch a fight between 135-ers Jessica Andrade and Larissa Moreira Pacheco. Maybe Rousey was scouting her future opposition, which could be Andrade if she continues to deliver performances such as the one at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in Brasilia, Brazil. Andrade (12-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) dominated newcomer Pacheco (10-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the mat before tapping her out with a guillotine choke in the first round of their main card fight, which streamed live on Fight Pass. Although Andrade was tickled to hear Rousey hung around, she’s not going to follow in the footsteps of fellow Brazilian Bethe Correia, who’s made it her mission to fight the champ.
