Bisping (30-9 MMA, 20-9 UFC) has discussed his impending retirement since his submission title loss to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217 in November.

Filed under: News , UFC , Videos Jorge Masvidal has made no secret of what he thinks of his Saturday assignment in Virginia. Masvidal (28-8 MMA, 5-1 UFC) meets Al Iaquinta (11-3-1 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in the UFC Fight Night 63 co-main event, and the American Top Team fighter is on record saying he believes the matchup is a bit beneath him, given his experience level. Masvidal admitted on Thursday that Iaquinta is “a talented dude,” but the matchup isn’t the fight he was hoping for. Given his previous foe was former lightweight champion Benson Henderson, maybe that’s understandable. But then there’s the part where Iaquinta has been head hunting of late. The New Yorker, a “TUF 15″ finalist,” has three straight wins by knockout.

Ask Marcus Brimage to expand on what he meant when, after kicking Jumabieke Tuerxun in the face for a first-round knockout win at UFC Fight Night 55 this past weekend, he made reference to a horrible year that he’d rather put behind him, and he’ll tell you. He’ll tell you all about his ruptured achilles tendon, his financial woes, his dark moments alone as he struggled to come back from injury, only to then lose a split decision to Russell Doane at UFC 175 in July. But really, Brimage’s bad year boils down to one thing, he said. “I had to give up fighting for a while and become a regular person,” Brimage told MMAjunkie. “That was terrible.” It was far more terrible than the rupture of his achilles tendon, which was, Brimage said, “the most painful injury I’ve ever had.” It was also more terrible than his current living situation, which he documented in an MTV “Cribs” parody that, some two years after he shot it, went viral on MMA message boards for reasons that ought to be obvious to anyone who’s ever participated in a discussion about UFC fighter pay: But see, Brimage doesn’t mind the crappy apartment with the kitchen he can barely turn around in and the TV he can see from the toilet.

When Michael Bisping says he’s ‘not going anywhere,’ that could mean a few things

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if Michael Bisping knew exactly what he was saying when he told us, following his submission loss to Luke Rockhold at UFC Fight Night 55 this past Friday, that he’s “not going anywhere.” Seems to me you can read that a few ways, and they aren’t all good. Not for Bisping, who’s 35, the owner of a 1-2 record in 2014, and caught in a stiff current that’s taking him further and further from that elusive title shot. In that context, the phrase “I’m not going anywhere” could very easily be interpreted as a depressingly dead-ended statement of fact. Imagine it being said by a zombie-eyed middle manager or a junior high school janitor, probably while looking in the mirror after a few too many after-work bourbons at the local Applebees.

New TV deal could see ‘TUF: Australia vs New Zealand,’ more events Down Under

SYDNEY – A new deal is in the works with TV giants Sky and FOX Sports that could open the door to an Australia vs. New Zealand edition of “The Ultimate Fighter.” That’s the word from UFC Managing Director for Operations in Canada, Australia and New Zealand Tom Wright. “We are in the middle of concluding our broadcast agreements both FOX Sports Australia here and with Sky in New Zealand, and those are the two places where it makes a lot of sense for us to look at the next ‘TUF: Nations,’” said Wright, referring to the international edition of the UFC’s long-running reality series
