Jose Correa Arena The Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) announced today that all its UFC Fight Night 58 drug tests came back clean. MMAjunkie today received a prepared release from the UFC-backed commission stating that all fighters were tested for performance-enhancers and drugs of abuse during this past month’s event. Additionally, four randomly chosen fighters were tested for erythropoietin (EPO). All tests were negative, though the athletes weren’t identified

Lyoto Machida Just for fun I like to imagine Lyoto Machida and Renan Barao together in the same van, leaving the arena in Barueri, Brazil, early Sunday morning after UFC Fight Night 58. I imagine them looking over at one another as they head off for their own champagne celebrations , exchanging polite, understated nods of congratulations and recognition, maybe flashing a thumbs up as they buckle their seat belts, then willing themselves to keep straight faces as they think, “That poor guy. At least I’ll get back to a title shot before he will.” It’s not hard to see it from both sides. If you’re Machida (22-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC), you probably point to your own devastating first-round finish of C.B. Dollaway (15-6 MMA, 9-6 UFC) in the main event, as well as your “Fight of the Night” effort in your last title shot, and you reason that that’s got to be worth more than Barao’s third-round submission win over Mitch Gagnon (12-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in his first bout since the UFC 177 debacle.

On Saturday the UFC announced the re-signing of the former light heavyweight champion, who left the UFC in early 2013 and subsequently went 3-0 with rival Bellator MMA. However, while the UFC is “ optimistic and confident ” Jackson (35-11 MMA, 7-5 UFC) is in a position to be signed, Bellator President Scott Coker told MMAjunkie via text message, “Sometimes you have to go to court to protect your rights!” During a FOX Sports 1 interview with Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 58 coverage, Jackson said Bellator didn’t honor his contract. It’s a reason he recently hinted at a desired UFC return , which ultimately opened the lines of communication and led to his new deal.
