Suffice it to say, the fan response to the uniforms was mixed. MMAjunkie contributor and veteran fight analyst “Showdown” Joe Ferraro was all over the early pulse of the fans on social media. Ferraro also talked to fans in the aftermath of Yoel Romero ’s (10-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) win over Lyoto Machida (22-7 MMA, 14-7 UFC) this past Saturday at UFC Fight Night 70 – and his in-cage comments to broadcaster Jon Anik and subsequent explanation and clarification. Albert Tumenov Albert Tumenov has been looking for a fight since he was pulled from this month’s UFC 188 event after two opponents withdrew within 10 days of fight night. In a recent Instagram post, Tumenov (15-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) said he wants to share the octagon with fellow welterweight Lorenz Larkin (16-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC), who’s riding high following a second-round knockout of Santiago Ponzinibbio in this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 70 co-main event in Hollywood, Fla. Tumenov, 23, is one of the brightest prospects in the UFC’s competitive welterweight division. The Russian lost a debatable split decision to Ildemar Alcantara in his promotional debut, but it’s since been smooth sailing. “Einstein” has made a splash in his short time on the UFC roster. He rebounded from his UFC-debut loss to score back-to-back first-round knockout victories.

UFC Fight Night 70 media suspensions: Machida, Dias suspended indefinitely

Hacran Dias The Florida State Athletic Commission issued medical suspensions to seven UFC Fight Night 70 fighters, and two are suspended indefinitely. MMAjunkie today obtained the list of suspensions from the commission, which oversaw this past Saturday’s event. UFC Fight Night 70 took place at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The main card aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 2. Headliner, Lyoto Machida (22-7 MMA, 14-7 UFC), who suffered a third-round TKO defeat to middleweight Yoel Romero (10-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC), can’t compete again until his head is cleared with a CT scan and until an ENT specialist gives him the green light.

UFC Fight Night 70 salaries: Despite loss, Lyoto Machida earns top payday

Lyoto Machida Despite his loss, Lyoto Machida, who picked up a disclosed payout of $200,000, was the top earner at this past weekend’s UFC Fight Night 70 event. In fact, Machida, who earned a flat rate of $200,00 and wasn’t eligible for a win bonus, earned more than three times any other fighter on the card, including Yoel Romero, who defeated him in the middleweight headliner. MMAjunkie today obtained the list of official paydays from the Florida State Boxing Commission. UFC Fight Night 70 took place this past Saturday, June 27, at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

Lyoto Machida In this week’s Trading Shots, MMAjunkie columnist Ben Fowlkes and retired UFC/WEC fighter Danny Downes discuss Lyoto Machida ’s knockout loss at the hands of Yoel Romero at UFC Fight Night 70 in Hollywood, Fla., and what it means for the former champ to lose two fights in two months. Fowlkes: Danny, as tempting as it is for us to use this space to try and figure out what Yoel Romero said and/or meant in his post-fight speech (honestly, the more I listen to it, the more I’m convinced you could hear almost anything there at the end), I’d like instead for us to think of poor, poor Lyoto Machida . Once the UFC light heavyweight champ with his own era named after him, “The Dragon” is now 1-3 in his last four, with two straight losses that saw him take rather savage beatings roughly two months apart. Yoel Romero If there’s one thing we can all agree on (and there may, in fact, not even be that), it’s that any time your post-fight speech overshadows your actual fight, things probably didn’t go according to plan. That’s Yoel Romero ’s story after his third-round TKO of Lyoto Machida in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 70 headliner Hollywood, Fla. It was a spectacular performance, if you can remind yourself to just focus on the action between the horns. With the power and poise of a large, predatory cat, Romero (10-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) stalked Machida (22-7 MMA, 14-7 UFC) in the first two rounds of the FOX Sports 1-televised bout, pinning him against the fence and pelting him with power shots. In the third, he took down the former UFC light heavyweight champion and elbowed him in the head until his body went limp .
