Former UFC lightweight Tae Hyun Bang has been sentenced to a 10-month prison term after being found guilty of taking bribes in connection with a plan to throw a fight. Bang (18-10 MMA, 2-3 UFC) was sentenced today in the Seoul Central District Court in South Korea, according to a report from The Korea Herald , for taking bribes to throw his bout with Leo Kuntz at UFC Fight Night 79. Three “brokers” who set up the fix and gave money to Bang totaling $92,160 USD also were given jail terms for their roles. One of those brokers reportedly was MMA fighter Dae Won Kim . “The crime of match fixing damages the credibility of sport, and in international matches, it has a bad effect on the country’s credibility as well,” the court said, according to The Korea Herald. “Bang had an obligation to play the game fairly, but he ignored it and took an important role in the scheme

UFC lightweight Tae Hyun Bang reportedly has been indicted for allegedly taking a bribe in connection with his bout against Leo Kuntz at UFC Fight Night 79. According tokoreaherald.com , Bang is no longer a UFC fighter and will go to trial without being detained. Also indicted are several “brokers” who allegedly set up the fix, including MMA fighter Dae Won Kim . The Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office, a branch of South Korea’s Ministry of Justice that is similar to the FBI, announced the indictment.

Report: Croatian outlet claims Mirko Filipovic never failed drug test, yet suspension stands

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic Croatian media outlet Vecernji reports that Mirko Filipovic , the man best known as “Cro Cop,” never actually tested positive for any banned substances, but that won’t change anything regarding the legendary heavyweight’s fighting future. United States Anti-Doping Agency spokesperson Annie Skinner told MMA Fighting that Filipovic’s previous admission of the use of a banned substance was all the evidence the organization needed to suspend Filipovic for two years in accordance with the UFC’s recently enacted anti-doping policy.

Tae Hyun Bang , who opened as an almost 2-1 favorite against Leo Kuntz , suddenly became a +240 underdog just prior to fight time. The odds swung so dramatically that many sportsbooks reportedly stopped accepting wagers on the fight, supposedly fearing a fix. And you can see why they might fear it, since what could make so much late money come in on a prelim fight for a Fight Pass card in Seoul

Even when sending a message, Benson Henderson remains difficult to understand

Benson Henderson Leave it to Benson Henderson to be cryptic even when he’s clearly trying to make a statement. Anyone who’s been paying attention all these years would expect nothing less, and anyone who hasn’t shouldn’t expect to understand. It started moments after Henderson (23-5 MMA, 11-3 UFC) defeated Jorge Masvidal (29-10 MMA, 6-3 UFC) via split-decision in the main event of UFC Fight Night 79 in Seoul on Saturday. After the standard post-fight remarks (Henderson can do all things through Christ, in case you haven’t heard by now), the former UFC lightweight champion removed his gloves, made sure we all noticed as he placed them on the mat, then looked into the camera to ask whether his victory in the main event was “impressive enough to warrant facing off with you.” (See the video of his post-fight octagon interview with Kenny Florian below.) The identity of the “you” in that statement wasn’t clear. In all likelihood, it wasn’t supposed to be. This had the ring of a message intended for a very small audience
