Wineland (24-16-1 MMA, 6-10 UFC), a longtime UFC fighter and former WEC bantamweight champion, retired after a 59-second knockout loss to Cody Stamann at UFC on ESPN 37 earlier this month. The loss was the fifth in his past six outings. The 38-year-old has been a contender for the majority of his career

AUSTIN, Texas – Damir Ismagulov ran his winning streak to 19 fights Saturday, but it wasn’t a walk in the park. Ismagulov (24-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) took a split decision from Guram Kutateladze (12-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) on the main card at UFC on ESPN 37 in Austin, Texas. All five of his wins in the UFC since coming over as the M-1 Challenge lightweight champion have been by decision.

Oliveira (13-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) took a split decision from Gloria de Paula (6-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) on the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN 37 in Austin, Texas. Oliveira was one of five upset winners on the card. After the fight, the Brazilian said she was surprised the fight was a split call with the three judges. Dolidze (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) opened the card at UFC on ESPN 37 in Austin, Texas, with a brutal knockout of Kyle Daukaus (11-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) in the first round. Not only did he pick up a $50,000 post-fight bonus award, but Dolidze did something else. He made sure he could tell any doubter to “shut your mouth” after hearing that he didn’t have knockout power and was the kind of fighter would had to grind out wins after a couple decision victories

Deron Winn to undergo orbital surgery after UFC on ESPN 37 loss to Phil Hawes

UFC on ESPN 37 was a rough night at the office for Deron Winn . On Saturday’s prelims at Moody Center in Austin, Texas, Phil Hawes (12-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) stopped Winn (7-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) with strikes in Round 2. Winn absorbed a large number of punches throughout the fight, especially in the final minute. Although he still stood as referee Herb Dean dove in, Winn was not doing enough to defend himself in the eyes of the official. While Hawes’ largely one-sided offensive performance was praised by fans and reporters, so was Winn’s heart and chin. Sunday, Winn revealed he suffered in Round 1 an orbital fracture, which will require surgery.

His first spinning back elbow win came in late 2017 at UFC 217. But the bonus-winning knockout didn’t come without a cost.
