Miesha Tate When Miesha Tate heard about a wardrobe malfunction earlier in the night at UFC on FOX 16, she decided to take a safety precaution. At this past Saturday’s event in Chicago, Elizabeth Phillips (5-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) picked up a victory over fellow bantamweight Jessamyn Duke (3-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC). However, social media was quickly flush with screen grabs and video clips after Phillips’ breast was briefly exposed during a scramble. Prior to the night’s co-headliner, in which Tate (17-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) picked up an impressive decision victory over fellow contender Jessica Eye (11-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC), “Cupcake” heard the buzz. “I doubled-up after I saw that,” Tate said during a recent in-studio MMAjunkie Radio appearance. “I didn’t see it, but I heard about it.

The way Caraway (20-7 MMA, 5-2 UFC) sees it, McDonald (16-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) has held onto his high ranking for a little too long, and he’d like to relieve him of it. “Who above me (in rankings) that I’ve been wanting to fight forever, so I might as well stay with it – I don’t know how he is with his injuries, but I really want to fight McDonald,” Caraway told MMAjunkie Radio soon after the Wineland win

Dillashaw Nova Uniao head coach Andre Pederneiras plans to meet next week with former UFC bantamweight Renan Barao to determine the next step in his career, which may include a move to the featherweight division. “For now, we haven’t talked about whether he stays at this weight, or goes up,” Pederneiras on Wednesday told MMAjunkie. “We’ll have that talk next week.” Barao (33-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC) was routed this past Saturday in a twice-delayed rematch with champ T.J.

That was Bryan Caraway ’s (20-7 MMA, 5-2 UFC) mindset this past Saturday at UFC on FOX 16, and it’s hard to argue with the results. The submission specialist outfoxed the heavy-handed Wineland (21-11-1 MMA, 3-5 UFC) and picked up one of his bigger career wins via decision at Chicago’s United Center on the FOX Sports 1-televised prelims. “Just because I have a high-level grappling game doesn’t mean I don’t have other parts of my game,” Caraway said afterward. “He was so worried about my grappling, it allowed me to use my wrestling to make my striking shine.” But like every good idea, it didn’t occur in a vacuum. The UFC bantamweight said it was his coaches’ work with his better half, women’s bantamweight Miesha Tate, that inspired him to put together a strategy that would beat a standout like onetime title challenger Wineland.

With the new UFC-Reebok sponsorship program, the fighters from Saturday’s UFC on FOX 16 event took home official estimated payouts totaling $212,500. The UFC-Reebok program, which replaces the fighter’s traditional outside sponsorships, awards payouts based on a fighter’s seniority , but with champions and title challengers in their own tier. While the UFC doesn’t officially reveal their payments for each event, MMAjunkie has compiled the following figures based on the UFC’s official payment plan. At UFC on FOX 16, which aired on FOX from Chicago’s United Center, UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw ($40,000) and former champion Renan Barao ($30,000) took him the highest pay, as expected.
