Marcus Davis Returns to Lightweight Against the “Most Dangerous Guy” in Bellator Tournament

Over this past year, former UFC welterweight Marcus “Irish Hand Grenade” Davis has overcome an issue with weight, which he feels cost him in his time with the promotion. Previously having had to cut down from over 200 pounds, Davis discovered medical issues which kept him heavy going into fights, and having since worked to overcome those issues, things have gone much better for him. “It’s been since about September 2012 since my health really turned around and I haven’t had any relapse of the issues I’ve had since then and I haven’t been above 185 pounds since then,” he said.

UFC welterweight contender Rory MacDonald spent much of the past few weeks insisting he would not and could not fight friend and teammate Georges St-Pierre . Not even for the UFC welterweight title St-Pierre has held for the last five years. Before MacDonald’s lackluster unanimous decision win against Jake Ellenberger (29-7 MMA, 8-3 UFC) at UFC on FOX 8 in Seattle, UFC President Dana White said he didn’t believe it. After the plodding performance by MacDonald (15-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), who used a jab and a front kick and little else to win the fight on all three judges’ scorecards, it seemed like persuading MacDonald to accept a UFC title shot was the least of White’s concerns. “I don’t think he moves down the ladder,” White said of MacDonald after the event. “But do you think anybody’s screaming to see him fight again?” White had a point. SEATTLE – It’s hard to get UFC welterweight Robbie Lawler to express much interest or emotion about anything, even when it comes to fighting. He won’t even brag about a recent TKO victory over Josh Koscheck , which followed a 2-4 skid and marked Lawler’s first UFC victory since 2004. But after some further thought, he finally perked up. “It was big for everyone else, but I knew what I could do,” he said of the “Knockout of the Night” performance at UFC 157. “But I guess it’s nice that everyone else kind of knows what I’m capable of. Maybe it put a little fear in some opponents. But I’m not too worried about that. Just fulfilling my dreams and fighting to the best of my ability is what I want to do, and that’s what I’m trying to do.” Lawler (20-9 MMA, 5-3 UFC) continues that quest on Saturday in a UFC on FOX 8 main-card bout at Seattle’s KeyArena, where he meets Bobby Voelker (24-9 MMA, 0-1 UFC), a late replacement for Siyar Bahadurzada (21-5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), himself a replacement for Tarec Saffiedine (14-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

UFC Welterweight Rory MacDonald Knew Instantly That He Wanted to be a Fighter (Video)

UFC welterweight Rory MacDonald knew he wanted to be a mixed martial artist the first time he saw footage of an early UFC event. He quickly began training at the age of 14 and a decade later is on the cusp of a UFC title shot. “I just fell in love. I started training. It was amazing,” MacDonald told UFC.com . “I was addicted. I was completely consumed in it. It was all I did like 24 hours a day was watch videos, train and try to learn as much as I could. “I pretty much knew instantly that this was going to be what I did with my life,” he added.

After knockout win at UFC 162, Mike Pierce targets Jake Shields
