Jake Lindsey Joseph Duffy has a new opponent for his heavily anticipated promotional debut at UFC 185. UFC officials today announced Vagner Rocha (11-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has suffered an undisclosed injury, and lightweight Jake Lindsey (9-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has stepped in as a replacement to fight Duffy (12-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who’s perhaps best known as the last man to defeat UFC featherweight contender Conor McGregor. UFC 185 takes place on March 14 at Dallas’ American Airlines Center. The main card, including a pair of title fights, airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. UFC officials today announced Duffy (12-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), a recent UFC signee, will make his promotional bout against fellow lightweight Vagner Rocha (11-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) at UFC 185. Featuring a lightweight title fight between champ Anthony Pettis and challenger Rafael dos Anjos, UFC 185 takes place on March 14 at Dallas’ American Airlines Center.

SYDNEY – Even those who picked Jake Matthews to beat Vagner Rocha probably didn’t think he’d do it by submission, which is reasonable, considering that no one in MMA had ever done it before. But after stunning Rocha (11-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) with a hard right hand early on in the second, Matthews (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) wasted no time shoving the wounded Brazilian to the mat and locking on a rear-naked choke that eventually put Rocha to sleep, bringing a stop to the bout at 1:52 of Round 2. The lightweight bout closed out the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night55 event at Allphones Arena in Sydney. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass. The fight was a close one throughout the first frame, with Matthews looking to score mainly on leg kicks. With an isolated right hand here or there, he reminded Rocha of his power, but never with anything hard enough to change the complexion of the fight

UFC officials on Wednesday announced that Rocha suffered an injury in training and was forced to withdraw from this weekend’s UFC 172 event.
