The event took place at Baxter Arena in Omaha, Neb., and the entire card streamed on UFC Fight Pass. In the welterweight headliner, Valdir Araujo (16-6) scored a second-round TKO victory over Dakota Cochrane (23-10), and in a 195-pound catchweight bout that served as the co-headliner, Maki Pitolo (6-2) secured a second-round TKO win over Andrews Nakahara (4-3-2). However, perhaps the night’s biggest knockout came further down on the card when undefeated bantamweight prospect Raufeon Stots (5-0) blasted William Joplin (13-12) with a head kick and stopped the fight in just 78 seconds. Dakota Cochrane Victory FC will return this spring with some veteran fighters on the top of the bill for its latest card in Omaha, Neb. Victory FC 49 is set for April 1 at the city’s Baxter Arena. In the main event, Dakota Cochrane (23-9) meets Valdir Araujo (15-6) in a welterweight bout. And in the co-feature, Rob Emerson (16-11) takes on Alonzo Martinez (39-19) at bantamweight.

WSOF 8 results: Gaethje, Aguilar crowned champs, ‘Rumble’ continues to roll

Justin Gaethje (11-0) is World Series of Fighting’s first lightweight champion after scoring a first-round stoppage over Richard Patishnock (6-2). The bout served as the main event of Saturday’s World Series of Fighting 8 event, which took place at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and aired on NBC Sports Network. Gaethje set the tone with an early flying knee, pushing forward immediately in a non-stop barrage of offense.

WSOF 8 lineup finalized, Palomino vs. Patino moved to main-card opener

Next week’s World Series of Fighting 8 lineup has been finalized, and in addition to a new preliminary-card bout, lightweights Luis Palomino (21-9) and Jorge Patino (35-14-2) have been promoted to the main card. WSOF officials confirmed the bout order with MMAjunkie.com. WSOF 8 takes place Jan. 18 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network following prelims on MMAjunkie. Palomino, a CFA and Bellator MMA vet, initially was slated to fight Richard Patishnock (6-1), who was recently promoted to the main event as an injury substitute.

Valdir Araujo meets Tyler Stinson on main card of WSOF 8 in Florida
