Don’t look now, but there’s another Usman looking to make waves, this time at heavyweight. The brother of current UFC welterweight contender Kamaru Usman , Mohammed Usman is ready to make an impact in the division, and he’s hoping an upcoming appearance on UFC Fight Pass will prove his worth. “Every fight from this point on is the biggest fight of my life, so I made sure I dotted all my i’s and crossed my t’s, and I’m in the best shape of my life for this fight,” Usman told MMAjunkie Radio. A former defensive lineman at the University of Arizona, the younger Usman turned his attention to MMA when his football days came to an end.

Victory FC will touch down just outside Chicago next month, and there are some solid names at the top of the bill. In the Victory FC 60 main event, Kevin Nowaczyk (19-3) will take on Andrew Kapel (11-6) in a bout between former Hoosier Fight Club champions. In the co-feature, Mohammed Usman (3-0), the younger brother of UFC welterweight standout Kamaru Usman, will take on Don’Tale Mayes (3-2) at heavyweight. Hoosier Fight Club and Victory FC, both Alliance MMA promotions, will put on the event at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind., near Chicago on April 14. The card will stream on UFC Fight Pass. Kapel is a former Hoosier Fight Club middleweight champion.

Filed under: News Victory FC has set its 2017 event schedule and also released some badass video highlights from 2016. The Nebraska-based organization, which streams its events on UFC Fight Pass, will host six shows in 2017, starting with Victory FC 56 on April 14. As with past years, the popular Midwest promotion will likely groom some of its top prospects for eventual moves to the UFC and other top promotions. Other than dates, though, other 2017 event details haven’t been finalized. According to Victory FC President Ryan Stoddard, the organization hosted nine events and 61 fights, 48 of which ended in a stoppage, in 2016.
