All fighters who underwent drug testing at this past month’s UFC on FOX 8 event successfully passed their tests. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the results with the Washington State Department of Licensing, which oversaw the network-televised event. UFC on FOX 8 took place July 27 at Seattle’s KeyArena. In the headliner, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson successfully defended his title with a submission win over John Moraga . In addition to Johnson and Moraga, other tested fighters included main-card competitors Rory MacDonald and Jessica Andrade , as well as preliminary-card fighters Mac Danzig , Daron Cruickshank , Ed Herman , Germaine de Randamie , Aaron Riley and Yaotzin Meza . Six were winning fighters, and four were losing competitors.

Saturday night’s UFC on FOX 8 event officially drew an attendance of 8,967 and a live gate of $700,081. The Washington State Department of Licensing, which oversaw the event, today released the figures to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC on FOX 8 took place at KeyArena in Seattle and featured a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson (18-2-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC) and John Moraga (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC). The four-fight main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. The total number of paid tickets for the event was 6,619

Recent flyweight title challenger John Moraga is among a list of fighters who could be out as long as long as six months following their fights at this past Saturday’s UFC on FOX 8 event. The Washington State Department of Licensing, which oversaw Saturday’s event, today released the event’s medical suspensions to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC on FOX 8 took place July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle. The night’s main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Moraga (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was submitted in the fifth round by champion Demetrious Johnson (18-2-1 MMA, 6-1-1 UFC), who defended his title for the second time. Moraga received a suspension of 180 days unless he is cleared by a doctor prior to that. Regardless, he will be shelved for 30 days. All 24 fighters on the card received at minimum Washington’s standard seven-day suspension, including Johnson and co-main event fighters Rory MacDonald (15-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Jake Ellenberger (29-7 MMA, 8-3 UFC)

SEATTLE – Saturday night’s UFC on FOX 8 event drew an announced attendance of 7,816 and a live gate of $735,000. UFC President Dana White announced the figures at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended. UFC on FOX 8 took place at KeyArena in Seattle and featured a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga . The four-fight main card aired on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. While the number of complimentary tickets issued was not revealed, the figures represent an average of $94.04 in revenue generated per ticket issued. The Washington State Department of Licensing is expected to release official attendance and gate numbers in the coming days.

Referee Herb Dean draws double duty in UFC on FOX 8 main and co-main events

SEATTLE – Veteran referee Herb Dean will oversee the two top-billed fights at UFC on FOX 8. Dean is the third man in the cage for the event’s title headliner between flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga , which will be judged by Sal D’Amato, Chris Lee and Lester Griffin. Just prior to that fight, Dean also officiates the co-main draw between welterweights Jake Ellenberger and Rory MacDonald , which will be judged by D’Amato, Dave Hagen and Griffin. Washington commission: No TUEs filed for UFC on FOX 8

None of the 24 fighters competing at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 8 card applied for therapeutic use exemptions. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) received the news on Tuesday after filing a public records request with the Washington State Department of Licensing, which oversees the state’s combative sports program. UFC on FOX 8 takes place Saturday at Seattle’s KeyArena. The event’s main card airs live on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. Although exemptions for testosterone replacement therapy are the most common to MMA, others are granted for fighters who can demonstrate a medical necessity for substances that aren’t allowed by state athletic commissions. Recently, the Nevada State Athletic Commission granted UFC middleweight Chris Leben an exemption for prescription opioid medication Suboxone, which typically is used as a replacement therapy for people with narcotic dependency. None of the fighters on UFC on FOX 8 are known to have used TRT or other banned substances.
