Bellator Inks Three of Rampage Jackson’s Wolfslair Teammates for Season 9

On the heels of MMA icon and Wolfslair alum Quinton “Rampage” Jackson joining Bellator , the promotion announced Wednesday the signing of Gavin Sterritt, Peter Graham, and Linton “The Swarm” Vassell from the preferred UK agents Wolfslair team (www.wolfsagency.com). All three Wolfslair products will compete for Bellator during the promotions ninth season live on Spike and Spike.com. “Wolfslair has produced some of the best talent in MMA over the last 10 years, and as Bellator continues expanding internationally and particularly with our huge new TV partnership with Viva in the UK, Wolfslair will be a tremendous asset and partner for our brand in the future,” Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney said. Sterritt will look to make is mark in Bellator’s Welterweight division and carries an impressive 6-1 record. The submission ace is the current holder of the UCC British Welterweight Championship and the ISKA British Welterweight Championship. Sterrit will make his Bellator debut on September 13th from Southern California’s Pechanga Resort and Casino when he faces the undefeated Andy Murad

Nate Marquardt vs. Hector Lombard Welterweight Bout Added to UFC 166 Fight Card

A welterweight contest between two former middleweight powerhouses, Nate Marquardt and Hector Lombard , has been added to the recently announced UFC 166 fight card. MMAWeekly.com sources confirmed the bout first reported by MMAFighting.com . The third bout in the trilogy between UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and challenger Junior dos Santos headlines the UFC 166 event slated for Oct. 19 in Houston. Marquardt (32-12-2) won the Strikeforce welterweight championship in his first bout in the weight class. He lost the title in his next fight, against Tarec Saffiedine, and then lost his UFC return bout to Jake Ellenberger at UFC 158.

Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks Pushed to November, Likely in Las Vegas

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks will not meet in October as originally anticipated. Instead, the welterweight championship showdown will take place in November, most likely in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White confirmed the November timeframe and Las Vegas location following the UFC 161: Evans vs. Henderson media day in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Thursday. Hendricks (15-1) solidified his slot as the clear No. 1 welterweight contender by defeating former interim titleholder Carlos Condit at UFC 158 in March. Hendricks is currently riding a six-fight winning streak. St-Pierre (24-2) last defended his title on the same UFC 158 fight card, defeating Nick Diaz in one-sided fashion. The champion is on an 11-fight winning streak.
