Will Chope says he bears no ill will toward the UFC after company officials released him from his contract, but he does hope the world’s largest MMA promotion will reconsider their position. “It’s my dream to fight in the UFC,” Chope said in a video statement sent to MMAjunkie and posted above. “I want to be the best fighter in the world.

Despite release, UFC Fight Night 38′s Will Chope will be paid ‘show’ money

Although he’s been pulled from today’s lineup and released from the organization, Will Chope will receive his fight purse for today’s UFC Fight Night 38 event. UFC President Dana White told MMAjunkie the fighter will receive his “show” money. He didn’t disclose the amount. As reported earlier today, Chope (19-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was pulled from his fight with fellow featherweight Diego Brandao (18-9 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and cut from the roster after details of his past came to light . Brandao received his “show” money and his win bonus following the bout’s cancellation. UFC Fight Night 38 takes place today at Ginasio Nelio Dias in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil

Diego Brandao on Will Chope and fight cancellation: ‘I’ve made mistakes too’

NATAL, Brazil – Diego Brandao had prepared himself for hand-to-hand combat. Instead, just hours before he was supposed to face Will Chope today at UFC Fight Night 38, he was hanging out in a beachside pool, doing his best to enjoy an otherwise frustrating situation. “I really wanted to fight,” Brandao told MMAjunkie. “I was ready.” Brandao’s bout was canceled at the last minute when a few unsavory details from Chope’s past came to light, and the promotion elected to terminate his contract. Brandao (18-9 MMA, 4-2 UFC) admitted he feels some sympathy for Chope (19-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) but understands the UFC’s decision.

After some less-than-flattering background information became public on Saturday, Will Chope has been pulled from today’s UFC Fight Night 38 lineup and cut from the UFC roster. Chope (19-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was scheduled to fight fellow featherweight Diego Brandao (18-9 MMA, 4-2 UFC) at Ginasio Nelio Dias in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. It was slated as the final FOX Sports 1-televised preliminary-card bout before the same channel carried the main card
