Video: Drake greets Alex Pereira during concert in Sydney

UFC star Alex Pereira was on hand for a Drake concert in Sydney on Sunday and the rapper showed him some love on the way out. Pereira was joined by coach Plinio Cruz and teammate Yousri Belgaroui among others as the two took in Drake’s concert Sunday at Qudos Bank Arena, the same venue that hosted UFC 312 two weeks prior. Despite the low lighting and highly populated crowd, Pereira was quickly recognized by the crowd who began to chant “Chama” and take selfies. As the concert concluded, Drake sought out Pereira just prior to his exit. The two shook hands before Drake gave a thumbs up and Pereira let go a “Chama” toward the camera. Week 5 of Dana White’s Contender Series (2024) took place on Tuesday in Las Vegas, and we’re grading the winners from the five-fight card, which streamed on ESPN+ from the UFC Apex. With a simple but digestible format that has had the MMA fanbase responding, this series has shown to have legs in multiple ways while serving as a crockpot for contenders the UFC matchmakers can use to fill their roster for future events. With that trend in mind, I once again will be taking a look at the winning fighters, regardless of whether or not they won a UFC contract, and grading their performances in regard to their probability of returning to a UFC stage. Yousri Belgaroui fought both Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira in kickboxing and now he may very well join them in the UFC. At Dana White’s Contender Series 71 on Tuesday, Belgaroui (8-3) finished Taiga Iwasaki (9-2) by TKO due to a barrage of strikes at 2:34 of Round 3.

One of the few fighters to have stood across from both Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya will get one more crack at making it to the UFC. Yousri Belgaroui , a former kickboxer who twice lost to UFC light heavyweight and former middleweight champ Pereira and twice lost to former 185-pound champ Adesanya in GLORY kickboxing matches, will get another shot at Dana White’s Contender Series later this year.
