Felipe Arantes SASKATOON – Things weren’t exactly looking good for Felipe Arantes . The fight was only a couple minutes old, and already he’d been taken down twice by Yves Jabouin , and blasted with at least one hard elbow. But a smooth armbar from guard by Arantes (17-7-1 MMA, 4-3-1 UFC) led to a sweep and submission finish, as Jabouin (20-11 MMA, 5-5 UFC) was forced to tap out at the 4:21 mark of the first round. The lightweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 74 event at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1. Right up until he lost, Jabouin seemed to be well on his way to winning

Yves Jabouin August’s UFC Fight Night 74 event in Canada has a new addition, officials today announced. Yves Jabouin (20-10 MMA, 5-4 UFC) and fellow 135-pounder Felipe Arantes (16-7-1 MMA, 3-3-1 UFC) have been booked for the event. UFC Fight Night 74 takes place Aug. 23 at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Thomas Almeida MONTREAL – In a performance that resembled the best of his highlight reel , Thomas Almeida battered Yves Jabouin before putting him away in the first round. Referee Yves Lavigne was forced to halt the bout i the first round when Jabouin (20-10 MMA, 5-4 UFC) was unable to defend himself as Almeida (18-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) unleashed a flurry of punches to the body and head. The bantamweight bout opened up the main card of today’s UFC 186 event at Bell Centre in Montreal. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Almeida, a product of the famed Chute Boxe Academy in Curitiba, Brazil, earned a TKO at the 4:18 mark of the first round after stunning Jabouin with a hard left hand
