Maycon Mendonca and Batsumberel Dagvadorj gave it their all in Friday night’s LFA 96 main event. With the vacant LFA welterweight title on the line, Mendonca (10-4) and Dagvadorj (7-0) engaged in a five-round, all-out war. In the end, Mendonca earned a unanimous decision over Dagvadorj, with 50-45, 49-46, 49-46 scores that don’t do justice to the tenacity with which Dagvadorj fought. The tempo was set early in the fight. Mendonca had his moments and Dagvadorj returned fire with a flooring blow. Through the second, third, fourth, and fifth rounds, both men slowed at times, but always found a way to accelerate once again

RFA 42 slated for Aug. 19 with Christos Giagos vs. Zach Juusola headliner on AXS TV

The headliner and co-headliner are set for next month’s RFA 42 event. Officials recently announced lightweights Christos Giagos (12-5) and Zach Juusola (11-3) meet in the main event, and flyweights Ray Elizalde (10-0) and Alex Perez (13-4) clash in the co-main event. RFA 42 takes place Aug. 19 at Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, Calif. The main card airs on AXS TV. In the headliner, Giagos, who was RFA’s first 155-pound titleholder, looks to continue his recent momentum.

J.J. Ambrose out, Zach Juusola meets Mehdi Baghdad for lightweight title at RFA 21

RFA’s December show in California has a new participant vying for the vacant lightweight title. The promotion today announced that J.J. Ambrose (21-5) has suffered a training injury, forcing him out of the RFA 21 main event against Mehdi Baghdad (10-3).

RFA 13 heads to Nebraska with Dakota Cochrane vs. Efrain Escudero
