Sure it may seem obvious, but he’s the clear choice (sorry Irish fans). Hindsight is certainly 20/20, but imagine where Holly Holm began the year. She went from scraping by with a split decision against Raquel Pennington at UFC 184 in February and receiving boos against Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night 81 in July to finishing the most dominant female athlete in sports. While everyone may be willing to point out Ronda Rousey’s striking deficiencies, Mike Winkeljohnn of Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA in Albuquerque, N.M., helped craft the strategy and the tactics for Holm to pull off the massive upset at UFC 193.
