Meldonium has been at the center of much controversy in the sports anti-doping world and that controversy has saved one UFC fighter from being forced out of a bout despite testing positive for the banned substance. The UFC today released a statement stating Daniel Omielanczuk (18-5-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) had been notified by testing partner U.S. Anti-Doping Agency he had failed a drug test due to the presence of Meldonium.Because WADA has issued new guidelines for handling positive results for the drug, USADA is not issuing a provisional suspension and Omielanczuk Because the World Anti-Doping Agency has issued new guidelines for handling positive results for the drug, USADA is not issuing a provisional suspension and Omielanczuk will remain in his scheduled UFC Fight Night 91 bout with Alexey Oleinik (50-9-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC)
