Although he recommends against it, UFC President Dana White said former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz can have an immediate title shot upon his return from a lengthy injury layoff. Cruz (19-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) hasn’t fought since October 2011 due to knee and groin injuries. The injuries followed the longtime WEC titleholder’s move to the UFC, where he was installed as the UFC’s inaugural 135-pound champion before two successful title defenses over Urijah Faber and Demetrious Johnson. But planned bouts, including one with interim titleholder Renan Barao earlier this year at UFC 169, were subsequently scrapped due to injuries and surgeries. “I have literally heard nothing from Dominick Cruz,” White said this past weekend
