Brazilian lightweight Michel Prazeres isn’t dwelling on the fact his recent opponent was cut after a narrow loss. The 32-year-old Brazilian most recently fought this past November, and he earned a split-decision victory over Valmir Lazaro (14-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC). Every major media outlet scoring the fight had Lazaro as the winner (via ), but the cageside judges disagreed and awarded Prazeres the split decision via 29-28, 28-29 and 29-28 scores. Prazeres (19-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC), who next fights Cottrell (17-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at Saturday’s UFC on FOX 20 event, looks at this way: One of them was likely to get a pink slip, and he’s just just glad it wasn’t him. “Against Valmir it was a hotly contested bout,” he told MMAjunkie.
