In September 2014, Arlovski was looking to build off a disappointing split-decision win over Brendan Schaub at UFC 174. That victory marked a successful return to the UFC for Arlovski following six years away from the promotion, but the quality of the performance left something to be desired. “The Pit Bull” was then tapped to travel to Brazil to face hometown hero Antonio Silva in the main event of UFC Fight Night 51
