The California squad against came up short in a title bid when flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson quickly knocked out Joseph Benavidez in the night’s headliner. However, Faber (30-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC), perhaps the team’s most recognizable fighter, gave them reason for a brief celebration with his win over McDonald (16-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in the co-headliner at Sacramento’s Sleep Train Arena.
