In a battle between a pair of veterans and former UFC title challengers, Jon Fitch moved on to a welterweight championship opportunity with a grinding win over Yushin Okami on Saturday in the WSOF 24 main event. Fitch (27-7-1) used a takedown-heavy attack against Okami (30-10), who dropped down to 170 pounds from middleweight and took a pair of 30-27 scores and a 29-28 in the headliner. Fitch, who challenged Georges St-Pierre for the UFC’s welterweight title in 2008, now will fight former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields for WSOF’s vacant welterweight title.
